I grew up in a rural valley that was dotted with farms, vineyards and rolling hills. The disappearance of those orchards, farms and vineyards into urban development, is the the inspration and motivation for my work. The work is expressed in representational forms and shapes of orchard trees, fruit and structures. The paint is applied in light to heavy impasto scraped, scratched, manipulated and enhanced in repeated applications and defined glazing, often writing in the paint surfaces, my thoughts on the specific work and the dissappearing farms and food.
